If you’re reading this article chances are, you clicked a link from someone’s social media, you love Her Campus (we love you too), or you actually just love reading, like me. If I had the chance to pick watching television or reading, I’d pick reading no doubt about it. If you don’t love reading that’s fine but there are plenty of reasons that you should. I don’t have to get into major details now but here are three books you should be reading.

1. Allegiant by Veronica Roth

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Divergent series, well the last movie is coming out this spring. If you’re into female leads with some saving the world action and a love story, this series is for you. And yes the books are always better than the movie.

2. Unworthy: How to Stop Hating Yourself by Anneli Rufus.

We all should have confidence and high self-esteem, but face it doesn’t always come easy. Which is completely understandable, when you look around and what’s praised as beautiful isn’t you that can be tough.  Or how we’re constantly on social media looking at everyone’s lives and sometimes you wonder “Why can’t my life be like that?” or “What am I doing wrong?” This book starts the journey to self-love.

3. Your textbooks!

Yes I said it your textbook. After a long week of lectures and note taking, reading your textbook is a great way to review the material. Say you missed something in class, or didn’t understand a topic, reading your class textbook could help you catch something you missed. Honestly, any extra time outside of the classroom on work is a good idea for good grades.

It’s ok to put your phone down for a while and focus on something else. If you aren’t interested in these books above you can check out others. Reading a book for me is like leaving reality and entering in some else’s, and with all of the pressures of being a college student it’s nice to leave without acutally leaving.
