If you haven’t heard about the “Body Positive” movement, it’s definitely something worth mentioning. Body positivity is all about celebrating the skin you’re in! It may sound cliche, but it is a lot deeper than you think. Eating disorders are a big problem in our society due to the  media portraying a very specific body type for an “ideal” size that makes people often feel like they aren’t beautiful. The point is… there’s no rulebook for what you should look like; be proud of yourself and your uniqueness.

Here are a few ways you can make body positivity a part of your every day routine!

1. Realize that you are more than your physical attributes. Your charisma, humor, and intelligence are far more important than stressing over a bra size. Celebrate yourself as much as you can! Simple positive comments you make throughout the day can change your mindset.

2. Take time to look at yourself in the mirror naked. Self acceptance is an important step to appreciating what you have. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wearing makeup, but don’t feel the pressure to manipulate what is already flawless. Beauty is a state of mind.

3. Make a list of all of the things you admire about yourself.  When you’re done, make a list of the things that you don’t like so much. Then ask yourself: “Why do I hate my stretch marks?” “Why do I hate my big lips?” Society has taught us superficial “beauty” standards, teach yourself real beauty!
