Dealing with anxiety can be hard but you are never alone in it when you have Jesus. There’s prayer, worship, and scripture. Turning to the Word when you are feeling anxious can immediately start to lift your stress and worries off of you because it releases your mind to a higher being and an area of relaxation.

Here are 5 scriptures to turn to for when you are feeling anxious.

1 Peter 5:7 NIV

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

This is a popular scripture to turn to when feeling anxious – I mean it has anxiety right there in it.

In this scripture, the Lord is telling us that He wants our anxieties. He cares so much about His children that He wants to take that weight off of our shoulders and put it on His own because He doesn’t want to see us suffer through what anxiety can put us through.

Isaiah 43:1-2 NIV

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

If that does not just give you goosebumps…He is an almighty God! No matter what we may go through, from the lowest of the lows and the highest of the highs He will be there. From fire to water He will be there. And He will NEVER let us be alone.

This is my favorite Bible verse of all time, I even have it tattooed on my body. Having anxiety I like to have a personal reminder that He will always be there with me.

Luke 12:25-26 ESV

“And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?”

Verses 22 through 34 in the Book of Luke is a guide on how to not be anxious. Here Luke is telling us that worrying accomplishes nothing and to cast all our worries aside. We should give all of our worries to God just like Peter said. There are greater sins out there than worrying, however, there is nothing that defeats oneself than our own self worry. At times we can be our own worst enemies, but if we turn to the Lord it will only bring Him joy because you are showing Him that you are putting your faith unto Him.

2 Corinthians 12:10 NIV

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Hallelujah! It doesn’t matter what other people say to insult me or what they say your weaknesses are or even what the devil is saying you are weak in. And don’t even get me started on the hardships. For when are WEAK then we are STRONG in the name of the LORD! Do not be discouraged. He will always have our back, no matter what.

Psalm 27:1 ESV

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Psalm 27 is titled The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation. That is a very important concept to remember while experiencing anxiety. When we are feeling anxious it is easy to feel alone and isolated, but you are never alone when you have Jesus. When we are in our darkest of times, HE is our LIGHT. When we do not know who or where to turn to, HE is our SALVATION.

There are so many more scriptures that you can look up for anxiety, sometimes there is even an index in your Bible that has them marked. Save these 5 scriptures because they can always be you emergency “flip to” scripture when you need to calm yourself down in the moment.
