On the illustrious Valdosta State campus, we boast several different organizations, and I always say there is one for everyone. Organizations are a fun way to make friends on campus and to get more involved in campus life. Whether you’re into the big-name orgs on our campus or not, here’s a small list of slept-on organizations that I’ve seen do some cool and cute things!
CaribSA
CaribSA may not be underrated, but I still feel like they need a little spotlight. Our chapter of HerCampus has done quite a few events alongside them, and every time I see them they look like they’re having a great time. CaribSA stands for the Caribbean Student Association, they put on lots of culturally-inspired social events and participate in community service events. You do not have to be an islander to join thier club, and from what I’ve heard their super sweet people too!
The Fire Pit
The Fire Pit is a pep organization on campus, and they usually hold meetings that can be found in the event app, Blazerlink. The Fire Pit aids in many of the events on campus such as the “Share a Coke” events and lots of other fun stuff we have to raise school spirit. If you’re trying to get noticed on campus, or if you’re really feeling blazer nation, the Fire Pit may be a great organization for you to join.
Deep Release Poetry
Deep Release Poetry is an organization that hosts open mic nights and keeps a spoken word/poetry scene alive at Valdosta State. They have events often and open the stage for any poets who want to be heard. These events are also good for just being enlightened or getting other peoples opinions and views. The people that speak often have very interesting poems, and I always leave feeling very relaxed
Genders and Sexualities Alliance
The Genders and Sexualities Alliance is an organization for the LGBTQ+ community, but this is not saying allies aren’t allowed. However, the primary function of the organization is to further the visibility and inclusion of the LGBTQ+ community on our campus. They are accepting and friendly people; if you don’t feel seen or accepted on campus, go to a meeting.Â
HerCampus
HerCampus is pretty underrated on our campus, and I don’t see why! The ladies of HerCampus give back to the community, host fun events and post engaging articles every week. I joined HerCampus because of the inviting atmosphere and the wonderful ladies in the organization.Â

On our campus, there is an org for everyone. Just keep your eyes peeled.
