This weekend I am planning a dinner date for my boyfriend and I. The first thing that popped in my head was, “What was I going to cook!?” There are so many options, but being in a relationship while also being a struggling college student, I want to be smart about it. That being said, I decided to brainstorm out loud, and share some quick and easy meals that anyone can make!
Â
1. Chicken Alfredo
Ah, one of the most delicious and simplest meals there is, you can never go wrong with chicken Alfredo! Once you’ve got the basic ingredients of noodles, chicken breasts halves, and Alfredo pasta sauce, you can spice it up however you’d like. Make enough for two, and it’s a date!Â
Â
2. Spaghetti
Your spaghetti may not come out looking this picture perfect, but spaghetti is always the go-to food. It can get a little messy, but that’s the best part! You can make it really cheesy, add some meatballs, or even bake it; it’s a versatile meal. And paired with garlic bread, it’s lovely!
Â
3. Tacos
Try a themed dinner date one night and make it festive! Tacos are the definition of a quick and easy meal. They’re basically a self-made food and are tasty as ever! Get all your favorite toppings together and make it fun. Some other ideas could be nachos, enchilladas, or burritos.Â
Â
4. Chicken
Chicken is the universal food for anyone who likes to eat, unless you’re a vegetarian. Whether it’s baked or fried, it’s so good! You can pair it with any side, such as macaroni and cheese, French fries, mashed potatoes, or corn. You can get chicken from anywhere, but its always better when it’s made at home.Â
Â
5. Baked Potato & Steak
“A man’s food”, steak and potatoes will definitely fill you up. They make a great combination of flavors and are perfect over candlelight. Your man will appreciate you forever if surprised with this meal. Dress your potato however you want and enjoy!
Â
6. Lasagna
Cheesy, delicious lasagna is mouth watering! When it’s packed with layers of pasta, ground beef, meat sauce, and cheese, it’s hard not to love. This is another meal that can be remixed however you like. It looks good on a plate and shows off your cooking skills. If you like cheese, lasagna would be a great choice!
Â
7. Breakfast Foods
Who said dates have to be at night? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. As a college student, we usually miss out due to classes or sleeping in. Taking the time out one morning to cook a full breakfast would be a great idea. Cook together as a couple or bring it to him in bed; it’ll be the perfect way to start your day! With so many breakfast foods to choose from it had to make the list.Â
Â
Cooking is trial and error, so if you don’t know where to start with cooking, don’t be afraid to try! Cooking for your significant other is such a sweet gesture, and who doesn’t love to eat?! Save some money and switch it up. Cook together or ask him to cook for you. Be creative and above all, have fun!
