If you didn’t know already, the month of March is dedicated to women. It’s the one month out of the year where we put emphasis on the impact that women have made in the world. March is the perfect month to be inspired by inspirational women in order to make difference, to become a better you, etc. And what better way to do those things than to have a music with encouraging messages. Here are songs that should be on your March playlist.
1. ***Flawless – Beyoncé feat. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Why should this song be on your March playlist? For one, the song is sung by Beyoncé. Two, the song has a quote from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie herself about what is expected of girls in society and the definition of what feminism is.
2. Something Beautiful – Tori Kelly
Living in a society where you are constantly told you are not beautiful sucks. Tori Kelly offers some encouraging words about loving yourself and being confident.
3. Partition – Beyoncé
Three Words: Sexually Empowered Woman.
4. Still Dirty – Christina Aguilera
Another song about a sexually empowered woman is Christina Aguilera’s song Still Dirty. The song has a really good message about a woman being proud and empowered by her own sexuality. Also in the song, it asks the question that lots of sexually empowered women think about “why is a woman’s sexuality always under so much scrutiny?”
5. I Am Woman – Jordin Sparks
Women have it tough, especially in a sexist society where we are considered second class citizens. Jordin Sparks sings about some of the challenges and hard work most women go through.
6. Independent Women Part 1 – Destiny’s Child
What woman doesn’t want to get their independent on?
7. I Can Only – JoJo feat. Alessia Cara
A song about doing whatever the hell you want and not caring about what anyone else thinks is a must have March playlist song!
8. That’s My Girl – Fifth Harmony
That’s My Girl is an upbeat feel good women empowerment song by Fifth Harmony. I highly suggest you play this on an early Monday morning. It’s bound to get you up and ready to face the world.
9. Run the World – Beyoncé
This song is a feminist anthem! If it wasn’t already on your playlist, you should put it there and keep it there.
