Get Your Sexy On: 4 Tips to Channel Your Inner Goddess Before Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

While winter is still underway, Spring Break is just around the corner! Here are a few tips for getting into shape before it’s time to put your toes in the sand and soak up some sun. What’s a day at the beach if all eyes aren’t on you?

Eat Healthy

It’s understandable how hard it can be to maintain healthy eating habits while in college, but don’t let that stop you from achieving that perfect bikini body! To get in shape, you should eat at least three meals a day with three snacks in between. Try to incorporate each of the food groups into your meals.

Did I mention healthy eating could also bring about healthy skin? Talk about killing two birds with one stone! Foods such as salmon, almonds, avocados and blueberries, just to name a few, are skin-happy foods. Snacks like pretzels, granola bars and low-fat yogurts are perfect when you’re on the go. I know you might scrunch your face up at the thought of trading your spicy chicken sandwich for a fruit salad, but eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring! I promise your body will thank you for it.

Drink Lots of Water

Water might be your least favorite drink, but it’s your body’s favorite. Water does a number of wondrous things for your body: it keeps your skin looking healthy, decreases fatigue and flushes out toxins. When it comes to maintaining your health, you should drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Studies show that those who drink a glass of water before a meal consume less calories than those who don’t. Hunger is often mistaken for thirst, so keep that water bottle on deck and stay hydrated.

Work It Out

Get active! Grab your best friend and go for a jog around our beautiful campus. If running isn’t your cup of tea, pick up classes at the Student Recreation Center, such as yoga, hip-hop dancing or the most popular, Zumba. It’s crucial that you get at least 30 minutes of exercise three days a week. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you enjoy it! You’re more likely to be consistent with your workout if you’re having fun doing it. Exercise will give you the energy you need to conquer the day!

Sleeping Beauty

Sleep? What? Yes, sleep! You need 8 hours of rest each night so that your body can recover and grow stronger, especially after you’ve been exercising. Sleep suppresses your appetite and increases your metabolism. Sleep deprivation can lead to weight gain. We’re trying to get sexy here, not slump. So while you’re on the phone late at night with your new guy, enjoying that “puppy dog” stage, tell him there’s plenty of time for chit-chat tomorrow. Get your beauty sleep!

Remember collegiettes: when you look good, you feel good. Confidence is one of the most beautiful traits a woman can possess. Take care of your body so that you can be the best YOU that YOU can be!
