Summer internship season is here; It’s time to secure the bag people. Graduation is right around the corner which means it’s time to figure out what the next step is. A great way to gain work experience, make valuable connections, and get an idea of what career might work best for you is interning; however, landing internships can be just as difficult as landing a job. Here are a few tips on to make this process a little easier.Â
Show up early
Try to arrive anywhere between 15-20 min early. Promptness is highly valuable in the working world; time is money and you don’t want your employer to question their investment. Â
Research the company before the initial interview
Landing an internship can be tricky, so it’s important to prep yourself by looking up information about the company. At the end of almost every interview, employers will ask if you have any questions. This is your moment to shine; well researched, intellectual questions demonstrate ambition which will set you apart from the competition.Â
Be ready to workÂ
Doing grunt work is a major part of interning, but it’s also an essential part of the experience. Coming to work with a positive attitude will impress your employers and give you the energy you need to push through the day.Â
Be Observant Â
While interning, keep in mind that this internship could turn into an employment opportunity. Make sure to look for ways to showcase your skill set and prove your value to the company. If there’s something that needs to be done, do it.  Don’t be afraid to step up to the plate and show your leadership skills. These are qualities all employers look for in potential employees.Â
Be a team playerÂ
It’s important to build relationships with your coworkers because you’re going to spend a lot of time with them. Building valuable connections with people in your desired profession will benefit you immensely throughout your career. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and don’t be afraid to offer a helping hand.  Â
