VSU Junior Kevonne Byard goes by the stage name Konspiracy and has been rapping for 8 years now. Some of you may remember him from his performances at The Pre-Function 2 and at Rhymes and Rhythms in the Spring. He also had a single release during the MAG premiere of the short film “The Clue.”
In April, he released his first project, EP Sweet Home which received plenty of positive feedback and was a step forward for him to show that he is taking his music seriously. Konspiracy lets the way he perceives life, as well as his experiences, inspire his music. “Some of my greatest songs and verses were written at 3 [or] 4 a.m. while I was up just reflecting on life,” he told me.
The songs on the EP were purely based off of his feelings and situations at the time. “I made songs based on whatever mood I was in or whatever recent experience I had. Most of the stories in the EP were written and recorded as those things were happening.” Konspiracy spent 8 months writing, recording and letting the music lead him in the direction of his message. “The only thing that was premeditated was that I wanted to tell my story, be real, and honest as possible.”
His mixtape Hip Hop State of Mind is set to release in October. “This project is less conceptual and more for fun. I made this so that listeners can have songs to enjoy and so I can show them that I have the skills to be their favorite rapper.” He also has a special release planned after the release of the mixtape. Be on the lookout, because Konspiracy has a lot in store!
