Natural Hair Growth Tips

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

While we are all finally getting into the groove of school and starting new part-time jobs, stress may begin to rear its ugly head in. Well guys and gals one thing you should not stress about this semester is your beautiful head of hair!

1. Drink Lots of Water

Believe it or not water will make your body do wonderful things, including help your hair health. So the next time you are in the dining hall skip the orange soda and get a bottle of water. The extra water will also make your skin glow and help your survive this South Georgia weather.

2. Biotin

Biotin is a supplement that improves hair and nail growth. They come in gel capsules, gummies, and regular tablets so you have option to pick from. You can find it anywhere from Walgreens to Winn-Dixie.

3. Protective Styling

Protective Styles are a great way to maintain the health of your hair. The more you manipulate your hair the more damage you are doing to it. So try out those Faux Locs or Crochet Braids that you’ve been dying to get! And if that isn’t how you want to go a simple twist out or bun will also suffice.

4. Always Deep Condition

Anytime your hair touches water it is a great idea to deep condition. If you have not found the perfect deep conditioner go on YouTube and find the ingredients for a homemade conditioner. If you add this step to your regimen your hair will surely flourish.

5. When in Doubt. . .  Rub Coconut Oil On It.

Rub it on your hair. Rub it on your relationship. Rub it on your in-progress grades. Rub it on your bank account. Coconut is a life saver especially in this Valdosta heat. You can use it to moisturize your hair, pre-poo your hair, and you can even add it to your homemade deep conditioner.

With these few tips there is no way you can go wrong. May your hair grow long and prosper this semester!
