Why You Should Use African Black Soap?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

I’m sure everyone has heard of African Black Soap, but everyone may not know all of the wonderful benefits your skin receives from using it. First off, African Black Soap is made from the ashes of plantain skins, Cocoa pods, palm leaves, and palm oils or kernels. You mostly hear us oily girls talking about this soap because it aids in oil control, but it also helps clear skin of breakouts and those pesky acne scars. Here are a few benefits you can reap if you decide to try African Black Soap.

1. You Glow Girl

African Black Soap has antioxidants that helps to improve your overall skin tone and leaves your skin glowing like you’re wearing Becca’s Champagne Pop permanently. I definitely noticed this benefit within days of adding this amazing soap bar into my skin care regimen.

2. Poof! Dark Marks Where?

Lets’ just say those dark marks that remind you of the acne you use to have…consider those gone! Over time of using this miracle bar you will notice your acne scars are fading.

3. Goodbye Breakouts

African Black Soap helps to clear up breakouts and to keep them away because of the antibacterial and antifungal properties that has. I pair the soap up with my Clarisonic Mia 2, and I can feel my pores being freed from gunk.

4. Heals Skin Conditions

With continuous use African Black Soap can help heal your skin of eczema, psoriasis, blackheads and other skin conditions.

There are several brands out on the market that sells African Black Soap, but my favorite one is the Shea Moisture African Black Soap. Regardless of the brand that you choose make sure your soap bar is 100% African Black Soap and not just some black soap bar with chemicals. You also need to be careful using this if you have dry skin, because it has a tendency to dry you out. It is nothing too horrible or intolerable if you already have severely oily skin like me. Just be sure to follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
