Okay ladies, I know some of us have to fake our excitement for the Super Bowl, but some of us are actually pumped to hang with our bros and watch some football! This year, on February 2nd, the Denver Broncos are taking on the Seattle Seahawks, and the game is sure to be a good one. So even if you’re just watching for the hilarious and highly anticipated commercials, here are some tips to having a successful party with your favorite girls and sporty guys.
1. Have food. Lots of it. Super Bowl parties are all about greasy football food! Think pizza, popcorn, and Velveeta queso dip. This also helps convince all the guys to come spend their Super Bowl with you instead of their fraternity brothers.PS- Check out this buzzfeed for some awesome buffalo chicken recipes, as pictured below.Â
2. Don’t forget the beverages. Keep it simple with some “frat water,” if you know what I mean.
3. Make sure to wear a jersey or the colors of the team you want to win. Encourage everyone else to do so also.
4. Be sure you have some fans rooting for both teams. A little friendly competition and smack talk makes for a more interesting football game. Just make sure it stays friendly and not cutthroat.
5. Know your basic football facts. I’m not saying you have to know every player on the team and their stats, but you should at least know the quarterback of each team. (Hint: Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson). The more you know, the more your guy friends are impressed.
6. Make sure to ask your friend with the big room if the party can be at his/her place. For obvious reasons.
7. Have everyone fill out a sheet predicting the final outcome of the game- scores included. The person who guesses closest to the final score can get a prize. (Optional, make everyone put in money so the money can be the prize.)
8. Enlist friends to help you clean up. Food and “beverages” make a recipe for disaster.
9. Watch the halftime show closely. Scandals waiting to happen. Think Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson.
10. Finish your homework beforehand. The only thing that kills the Super Bowl hype faster than your team losing is having to do some homework after.Â
Hopefully you’re more confident now about throwing your own Super Bowl party this year. And although most of us don’t have big screen TV’s in our dorm rooms or apartments, your Super Bowl party can still be a successful experience for everyone!
