Life is a cycle. We’ve all heard the phrase, what goes up must come down. It happens that the converse is true when it comes to life. The downs have to go up. From personal experience, I find that my life is always cycling from lows to highs. I would have a week filled with midterms and stress, but the following week would be filled with friends and fun events. So whether you got back a grade lower than you expected or you are feeling stressed and emotionally drained, just remember that good things will come in the near future.

Things that are a big deal now will not be in the future. Our negative emotions tend to fade, and we will realize with passing time that our current problems are not that big of a deal in the long run. When something has you feeling down, try to picture yourself a week, a month, or even a year later, and you’ll feel realize that whatever is happening now won’t impact you as much as you think it will later in your life. Thinking like this can also help you stop dwelling on the negative more quickly.

There ARE people who love and care about you. As much as this phrase is overused, it is certainly true—there are people who care about you. They will be there for you when you need support and will provide everything to make you feel better. And it’s nearly impossible not to cheer up after you talk to loved ones. When I’m having a really bad day, I go to my parents. I find that they are the best at helping me talk out of my bad moods, and they make me feel better so much faster than if I were to try to work things out by myself.

You are one of a kind. There is only one person in the whole universe that has your parents, fingerprints, smile, passions, and way to mark this world—yourself. Your individuality is a miracle in and of itself, and is something you should be proud of every single day. So start making your life full and happy as it can be!

You are blessed. You have food to eat, a roof over your head, people who care about you, and most likely much more. These are just some things most of us never remember as blessings because we too often take them for granted. It’s easy to get caught up in what’s upsetting us, but count your blessings when you are feeling low and you’ll realize that things aren’t so bad after all.
