Senior year is always a crazy time. People are trying to find jobs and apartments while also managing grades and enjoying the last year of college. I thought I’d give a little insight into my experience as both a senior and the president of Voce. Sometimes it can be a little stressful managing a group with all of the other aspects of senior year, but it’s given me some great stories.
I’m the President of Voce a Cappella. It’s an all-women group on campus that I’ve been a part of all four years. I’ve loved being in the group. It was how I first made friends as a freshman and I’m lucky that I now get to lead it.
Some of my duties include managing the schedule of rehearsals and concerts, planning the concerts, planning the music (with our musical director), and hosting auditions. There’s a lot to do but I love handling it all.  We have our concert coming up in April so keep an eye out for that!
My favorite part of Voce has always been how relaxed our group is. I love to sing and it’s great that Voce has been low-key and never added stress to my life. As a freshman it was hard for me to choose which group I wanted to audition with, but I realized I didn’t want a packed schedule filled with rehearsals. So Voce worked out perfectly for me.
Being a part of Voce has been a huge part of my Vanderbilt career. I’m so happy to have been a member all four years. My best piece of advice is to get involved at Vandy. It doesn’t matter which organization, but it helped me make friends and have something to do right away as a freshman. Enjoy college because it goes by fast!Â
