Grins Vegetarian Restaurant: First, let’s talk about the campus favorite–despite their endless lines. Grins (pronounced Greens) happens to be one of the best rated vegetarian restaurants in Nashville, a foodie paradise. Grins serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and never disappoints. The restaurant mixes things up with new specials everyday, but many people stick to their favorites, be it the Vegan Mac or the Superfood Wrap. The staff is always patient with students, tailoring their orders to their preferences. You’ll always leave Grins grinning.
Avo: New kid on the block, Avo, is garnering lots of buzz all over Instagram. Foodies with a conscience, have no fear, because Avo works with local farmers to be a sustainable business. Avo has it all from trendy treats such as Avocado toast or Acai bowls to unique grainless-lasagna and avocado margaritas. Our advice: take the brief trek off campus before their popularity blows up.
Woodlands Indian Vegetarian: In a city full of food, there is a surprising lack of Indian restaurants. Woodlands not only fills that void, but also has top quality food. A favorite caterer of many organizations on campus, including Hillel and VPB, Woodlands is able to conjure up piquant flavors without needing any robust meat. Carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores alike will walk away in a happy food coma.
The Wild Cow: The Wild Cow is further off from campus, in the growing neighborhood of East Nashville. While it’s a well-kept secret, The Wild Cow has cultivated a faithful following with their cruelty-free farming and vegan/vegetarian cuisine. They even have a charity focus each month! Literally any of their entrees, sandwiches, or even salads will make you drool–not to mention their wide array of vegan desserts.
