The Website that Saves my Fashionista Bank Account

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Vanderbilt chapter.

In May, at the Northwestern Entrepreneurship Convention, I learned the most important piece of advice anyone could have ever told me.

Instead of looking at what you can do to improve your company, look at the flipside.
Why wouldn’t someone want to use my product or my business?
Why Not.

After spending some time in California, I’ve explored the Why Not instead of the Why. Why not follow your dream?

Meet the innovators, my role models, my inspiration- Grace Ortkeise and Kelly Leonard, the founders of SnatchThat.

As a fashion blogger, SnatchThat has enabled me to follow my dream as an entrepreneur and fashion fanatic, even on a small budget.

Snatch my look (from above): Rosana Boutique LA

  • Price Alert Tool:
    • Each week I will “snatch” items around the web from both boutiques and large corporations. When the items go on sale, I can buy them at a cheaper price!
    • SnatchThat is better than flash sale sites. You choose what you want to be notified about and when the items are on sale. You aren’t pinned to a specific day, or deadline, for only one particular brand.
  • Social Network
    • As a blogger, fashion is about the story. My followers are able to view my closet in order to see what I am snatching!
    • SnatchThat creates a place where you can comment on my style, offer your opinions, and buy what I buy when I buy it!

WHY NOT…

SUPPORT two fashionistas trying to create their own path as creative entrepreneurs. In life, doing what you love is the most amazing struggle one will ever endure. The struggle is real, but the passion is indescribable with the right vision.

SELL- ST Stores

  • Sell their on-sale inventory
  • Spread the word about their brand to the large and growing SnatchThat community
  • Recognizing which of their products are popular amongst a cohesive community of fashion-aware consumers

SAVE- ST Shoppers

  • Consolidate shopping finds from several retailers in one place
  • Display your style cohesively
  • Save money on the fashion you want
  • Discover new brands
  • See what’s trending in the world of fashion
  • Offers contests like Snatch It To Win It every Wednesday, where they give items away simply for snatching

WHY NOT?

Stacey Oswald, originally from South Florida, came to Vanderbilt as a member of the class of 2015 and got involved with HerCampus her freshman year. She became assistant editor that year and is now the Campus Correspondent for Vanderbilt HC as a sophomore. Stacey is currently a columnist for Ask Miss A- Nashville and the life section of The Hustler. She's also very involved in her sorority, Kappa Delta, as well as Invisible Children. Outside of school and her extracurriculars, Stacey finds happiness in many sources, the most crucial being exercise and the sun. She loves to attend exercise classes and is an avid runner; she recently completed the Country Music Half Marathon. She also loves Vitamin D, especially when on the beach- though of course, she only soaks up the sun after applying SPF. A few of the things Stacey couldn't live without? Good food (especially from Sweet Cece's, Bricktops, and Samurai Sushi), great books (The Hypnotist's Love Story is a recent favorite), her family back in Florida, her wonderful boyfriend, and all of the great friends she's made at Vanderbilt.
