10 Fun Party Games You Can Play Virtually

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

With finals season rolling around, it can be really hard to meet up with your friends in person. I know that I tend to barricade myself in my room and study for hours on end. However, we all need some time to recharge our social battery with people we love hanging out with! I put together a list of fun party games you can play virtually to take a quick break with your friends without committing yourself to an outing. With the end of the semester nearing, we all deserve a chance to socialize and laugh with each other. Schedule a virtual party for you and your friends to chat and play games; here are some ideas for virtual twists on classic party games.

Bingo

Play bingo with one person calling out numbers while everyone else pulls out their bingo cards. If a player doesn’t own a card, you can even play this game on an app or use a bingo card generator.

Charades

Turn your cameras on and act out words from a category as everyone yells out the answer or guesses on the group chat. Not comfortable with acting on camera? You can use the Hasbro board game, Taboo, where you describe a word for other players to guess (250 Best Charades Ideas for Adults and Kids – Parade).

Pictionary

Put your drawing skills to the test as you use your camera to frame your whiteboard and your partner struggles to guess the corresponding word (150+ Fun Pictionary Words (Easy, Medium, and Hard!) – HobbyLark). If you don’t have a whiteboard, don’t worry! Just share your screen and pull up Paint, Notes, or a similar drawing software on your device.

Truth or Dare/Would You Rather….?

If your friend group is more enthusiastic about questionnaires, try a simple round of Would You Rather… ? (250 Best Would You Rather Questions for a Good Game Night – Parade). If you are ready to expose some secrets or do crazy stunts, play a game of Truth or Dare (251 Best Truth or Dare Questions to Ask Your Friends).

Trivia

Sharpen your memory for this classic battle of the brains (300 Best Trivia Questions and Answers to Jumpstart Your Fun Game Night). You can make up questions on your own, but there are plenty of online games that are designed to provide you with the best trivia experience such as You Don’t Know Jack, Random Trivia Generator, QuizUp, Trivia Crack, etc.

Try Not to Laugh

Play a series of super funny videos on your screen and try not to crack up. Make sure to check that everyone’s sound and cameras work before you start! You can find funny clips on YouTube or America’s Funniest Home Videos. If you want to make it more personal, feel free to play hilarious videos or showcase pictures of your friends.

10-second challenges

If you are very competitive and enjoy challenges, try to organize a 10-second challenge during your party. There are hundreds of ideas you can choose from online, from eating to architecture challenges. This website lists over 250 10-second challenges you can try: 250+ Awesome 7 Second Challenge Ideas

UNO

If everyone owns a deck of UNO cards, this the perfect way to spend your time as well! Make sure that everyone knows when their turn is and has their cameras on so other players can see the previously played card. You can also play using the UNO app or Crazy 8 on GamePigeon on an iPhone.

Who’s Most Likely To…

Learn more about your friends by challenging them to a game of Who’s Most Likely To… Create outrageous scenarios and vote on who would be most likely to say/act a specific way! You can search up these questions online, too (163 Who’s Most Likely To Questions for Friends & Work in 2023).

Talent show/Dress up

Remember when we were kids and would act like we were models on the runway? Well, it is just as fun to get ready together virtually. Help your friends do their makeup and put on nice outfits before strutting on screen. If you are not interested in fashion, set up a talent show where everyone has 10 minutes to showcase something they have been working on (like baking a cake or drawing).
