1. Get a job that makes you excited to wake up every morning
My dad works as hard as he does so that my siblings and I have the opportunity to go to school and study what we want to study. His job isn’t easy and he isn’t always thrilled to spend his days the way that he does, but he does it for us and I will always be appreciative of his sacrifices. I learned to be passionate about the work that I do just by observing his work ethic and admiring his accomplishments.
Â
2. Know your worth
Part of being successful, no matter how you define it, is understanding what you’re capable of. My dad has always encouraged us to push ourselves in order to realize our full potential and I’ve come to know my worth partly through him.
Â
3. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you’re less than you areÂ
This goes along with number 3; once you know what you’re capable of it’s your obligation to not let anyone make you feel like you’re capable of less than that.
Â
4. Use your failures as motivationÂ
Failing at some point in your life is inevitable and it’s important that you use that as a way to move forward and improve. Nobody is perfect and I’m grateful to have observed my dad make mistakes and use them in a positive way because it has taught me how to do the same.
Â
5. You deserve what you’ve worked hard for, be proud of itÂ
There’s no shame in being proud of yourself and acknowledging something that you’ve worked hard for. Stay humble, but recognize when you’ve achieved your goals and then set some new ones.
Â
6. Never stop challenging yourselfÂ
The major lesson that my dad has taught me is that life is a constant learning process. Once we stop learning, what are we living for? There’s always a new skill to master or skill to improve on and constantly challenging yourself leads to a fulfilling life.
