A lot of people don’t realize foods that are in their everyday diet are actually affecting their health. Here are five foods that are harming your body:
1. Red Meat. As much of a meat lover that I am, ribs, pork and hamburgers are not good for your arteries. A compound found in red meat that is also used in some energy drinks has been found to cause Atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is the hardening or clogging of the arteries. Have you ever questioned how meat is bound together when you are about to prepare dinner or buying a hamburger from a fast food restaurant? It’s because of “meat glue.” When it’s added to meat it forms an invisible bond, making a round shape out of smaller pieces.
2. Dairy. My love for Cold Stone Ice Cream is out of this world, and as I’m writing this I admit to having a half empty tub of ice cream in my fridge. But, dairy is not good for your body. Dairy is only good for cows. I know we were duped into believing that milk makes your bones stronger, but there is no evidence that dairy is good for your bones. Also, dairy is full of saturated fat no matter if it’s whole milk, two percent or one percent. Long story short, dairy is not good for the human body.
3. Soda. Although soda is very refreshing, it is full of sugar that can lead to diseases and clog your pores which can lead to acne. It’s also bad for your teeth. Added sugar is highly fattening and phosphoric acid within soda interferes with the body ability to absorb calcium. Not being able to absorb calcium can let to cavities and bone softening. The next time you’re at a vending machine or restaurant and want to order a soda think twice.
Â
4. Gluten. Gluten is a protein composite found in several types of grains, including wheat, rye and barley. When gluten reaches the digestive tract and is exposed to the cells of the immune system, they mistakenly believe that it is coming from some sort of bacteria. A lot of people choose to be gluten-free because of health reasons or their bodies are sensitive to gluten, which can cause an attack on the immune system.
Being aware of the foods and drinks you consume will cause you to live a healthier life.
