Her Campus Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiette Conference 2014

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

Her Campus WM and Her Campus VCU are so excited to host the 2014 Her Campus Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiette Conference this weekend at the College of William and Mary. Her Campus VCU co-founder, former President and former Editor-in-Chief Chelsea Kubo first came up with the idea for a conference three years ago and reached out to the chapter at William and Mary to help. The past two conferences were facilitated by both Chelsea and Harper Yi from HCWM and this year they are being joined in the ranks by Mariana Debbe and Alexis Canty, also from HCWM. The first conference actually inspired the Her Campus National Conference in New York City!

Attendees will hear from accomplished females from across the country including co-founder of Her Campus Windsor Hanger and Director of Campus Development Brittany Lewis! Other speakers include body empowerment activist and freelancer Caroline Rothstein, Editor-in-Chief of Selfless Style Isis Briones, Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s Communications Director Carrie Adams, Sports Psychologist Consultant Deidre Connelly, Career Counselor Anna Umbreit, Kim Waeber with Kidogo Kidogo and Assistant Athletic Director at WM Peel Hawthorne.

All attendees will also receive awesome swag bags sponsored by The Williamsburg Premium Outlets. Other sponsors include Merck’s Plan It Forward Campaign, Chipotle (they’re providing lunch for attendees – YUM!), eff.Y.bee jewelry, Vizcaya Swimwear and more!

This is a great networking opportunity and a great chance to learn about how to further your education and career. Registration is still open and we invite all students to attend!

She began contributing to Her Campus at VCU as a freshman and was developed to lead the chapter as Campus Correspondent for two years where she increased membership by 65% and brought the chapter ranking from bronze level to platinum level. She enjoyed attending both the mid-atlantic conferences held with the chapter at the College of William & Mary and Her Conferences held in NYC.  Sarah currently works in the tech industry in marketing. She has a background in communications, hospitality and nonprofit consulting. She still loves attending VCU basketball games and also loves live music. In her free time, she likes going on long walks with her dog, tending to her house plants and cycling around downtown. Fun fact: she has never owned a car and is a community advocate for public transit. Connect with Sarah on LinkedIn.
