To kick off the fall the semester, Her Campus at VCU is holding an event to test the knowledge of its members and that of those belonging to the VCU and Richmond communities. “Her Trivia” stands to challenge these individuals in various areas including but not limited to those regarding university sports, academic programs and dining as well as other topics such as Her Campus at VCU history and Richmond tourism. “Her Trivia” will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28, at West Grace North Student Housing, Room 1030C, 7-8:30 p.m.Â
And of course, it wouldn’t be “Her Trivia” night without including a few facts regarding Her Campus at VCU!
1. Our chapter became a pink level chapter in 2016.
We have met the Her Campus requirement of achieving the maximum number of followers on social media, while meeting and exceeding additional Her Campus expectations. It is the highest level that chapters can go. Â
2. Two sides of the same coin
We are composed of two teams, editorial and public relations, that come together to host events and publish content concerning a variety of issues concerning relationships/dating, academics, politics, shopping, personal opinion and lifestyle.
3. The journey towards becoming VCU began in 1838
The university is a by-product of a divine merger of colleges, Hampton-Sydney College, the Medical College of Virginia, the University College of Medicine and the Richmond School of Social Economy, which was later renamed the Richmond Professional Institute (RPI). This merger birthed Virginia Commonwealth University, and the home of the Green Devils became the home of the Rams.
4. The Rams love their sports
VCU has 17 varsity sports teams, including NCAA soccer and basketball. The men’s basketball team made it to the final four in 2011 under former coach Shaka Smart.
5. Lamplighter Coffee Roasters
What is college without coffee? This popular coffee shop is, according to students, one of the most Instagram-worthy spots near campus that also serves up appetizing dishes.
6. Maymont Park
This captivating spot will leave you and your wallet satisfied. It’s completely free to walk the grounds, explore the many gardens and witness animals in their natural habitats. The park is also a place to fit in an intense workout or have a picnic with loved ones.
