Tattoo Tuesday: Michelle Tran

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

What are you tattoos? My “so it goes,” tattoo is a quote from “Slaughterhouse Five,” and that line is repeated after each passage in which a character dies. I got this tattoo in remembrance of my grandma when she passed away because there’s this one passage in the book that talks about how even if people aren’t alive with us today, we can keep them alive through our memories. The red tattoo is abstractly a sun mandala. Mandala is a Sanskrit meaning circle; and, in larger terms encompasses the universe. So I got that tattoo to remind myself that I’m just a small speck in the universe and to not sweat the small stuff. It abstractly represents a sun because the sun is a star, in that which stars must collide and collapse first before becoming something great! It also has 3 blue stars surrounding it. So I got these tattoos during times when I felt completely lost.

Where did you get them done? The first tattoo was done at Salvation Gallery. The red one was done at Lakeside Tattoo.

On a scale from 1-10, rate the pain:  The first tattoo was probably a 4. The red one was a 7!

Do you plan on getting more tattoos?  I do not plan on getting any more actually, which is funny because most people get addicted to tatting up themselves, but I really like the two that I have now. They mean so much to me!
