What is it? Super Tuesday is the day several states hold presidential primary elections. This day is important because it helps determine each party’s nominee. This year, Super Tuesday is taking place March 1, 2016.
Who can participate? In order to vote in the primaries, you must be registered to vote. The deadline to register to vote in the primaries was Feb. 8, 2016. If you needed an absentee ballot, the deadline was Feb. 23, 2016. If you do have an absentee ballot, make sure to follow the instructions and turn in your ballot on time, before March 1, 2016.
Who can I vote for? Virginia is an open-ballot state, which means you’re not tied to a party or required to sign a Statement of Affiliation.
Democratic Party: Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders
Republican Party: Ben Carson, John Kasich, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz
Where do I vote? The location you vote is determined by the district you live in. Make sure you’re voting in the right location by going to virginia.gov and entering your address.
What do I take with me when voting? Make sure you take an acceptable form of ID. This can be your valid driver’s license, college student ID or a valid U.S. passport.
