Now that Halloween is behind us and we are a few weeks away from Thanksgiving and Christmas, there are a bunch of holiday-themed books I have on hold at my library and am excited to read in order to get in the winter holiday spirit.
- “Winter Street” by elin hilderbrand
-
Elin Hilderbrand is well-known for her romance novels and beach reads, which often take place on Nantucket Island, where she lives. “Winter Street” is the first book in a Christmas series consisting of three novels, which follows a family gathering on Nantucket for a “holiday filled with surprises.” I’ve had multiple people, all trusted readers like myself, recommend this series to me for the winter. I cannot wait to get into a cozy holiday mood and dive into these books.
- “Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares” by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
-
If this title sounds familiar, it may be because Netflix adapted it into an eight-episode series in 2020, which became quite popular. Apart from the Netflix adaptation, the books themselves are a popular young adult series consisting of three novels. The book follows the story of 16-year-old Lily, who leaves a notebook full of dares in her favorite bookshop, and the right guy who happens to pick it up and accept her challenge. Even though I’ve already seen the Netflix series, I am a major fan of David Levithan, and I still can’t wait to read these adorable books.
- “one day in December” by Josie silver
-
“One Day in December” is a book where I’ve heard the title talked about quite a bit, but I’ve never got around or thought to pick it up during the winter months. According to Goodreads, this book is “a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.” I don’t know much about the author Josie Silver, but I have read one of her other books, “The Two Lives of Lydia Bird,” which I adored, so I have a feeling this will be something I’ll really enjoy.
- “The wish” by Nicholas sparks
-
I don’t think this is necessarily a holiday or Christmas-themed book, but it does take place over the winter months, which is why I’m still planning to read it in the next few weeks. The book also takes place in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where my family and I vacation often, so I am excited to be able to relate to the setting in that way. Since this is a new release in 2021, I know people who are going to be, if not are already, talking about this book. So while I’ve never read a Nicholas Sparks book before, I’m looking forward to this being my first and am excited to join the conversation.
I’m someone who loves to watch either movies, television shows or read books that are holiday-themed during the winter months to make me feel cozy and spirited, so these couple books are what I’m looking forward to snuggling up with as the holiday season approaches.
