This time last week we as a nation elected the 45th president of the United States, businessman Donald Trump. There has been a whole host of different emotions about the outcome of this election, whether it was happy, sad, angered, or empowered. Â But besides the range of emotions we have seen throughout our nation, we have also seen violence and outrage towards people of different races, and ethnicities here in our country.
This is simply not acceptable- as Americans, as human beings. We cannot let hate take over our country. We cannot let hate terrorize our fellow citizens of this country, our friends, our classmates, our co-workers. It does not matter who you voted for or did not vote in this recent election. What matters is that we stand up for others. We stand up for those who are being hurt. We stand up for those who cannot stand for themselves. We stand together as Americans, as human beings so that others do not have to stand by themselves, so that they know love will always trump hate, so that they know their lives matter, and that they are loved.
“We can’t go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We all are a part of God’s great big family
And the truth, you know,
Love is all we need”
