Complain about the cold all you like, but any season that I don’t need to wear a bathing suit is one of indescribable bliss for me. However, now that it’s warming up outside, I’ve noticed that a lot of peope are into nature selfie-ing these days. Sorry, I mean “hiking.”
A few days ago I lied and told someone I had cookies for breakfast because I thought it sounded healthier than Easter candy. Since bathing suit season is quickly approaching, I figured it might behoove me to go adventuring on one of Southwest Virginia’s beautiful hiking trails.
McAfee Knob is nestled against Catawaba mountain and is one of the most photographed locations on the Appalachian trail.
The climb is about 4.4 miles to the Knob and filled with breathtaking views.
If you’re feeling especially adventurous, I suggest waking up super early to watch the sunrise. The view is unlike anything else I’ve ever seen.
