Dear Reader,
If you’re reading this, then you’re probably having a tough time right now. You’re overwhelmed, stressed, and above all else, anxious because nothing seems to go your way recently. But I’m here to tell you that everything is going to be okay and that you are going to get through this. It’s only a matter of time.
I know it doesn’t seem plausible right now, but there are brighter days ahead. Once the days get longer and warmer than they currently are, things will eventually start to look up. As the amount of sunlight increases every day, our levels of serotonin will begin to rise to help lift you out of this funk that you’ve been experiencing for who knows how long. This boost of serotonin throughout your body will improve your mood and hopefully raise your spirits. You just need to remember to keep going!
If you are struggling right now, remember that that’s okay and completely normal. Everyone goes through rough patches. It’s just a part of life. Without these hard times and struggles that we go through every day, we wouldn’t become the people we are or whoever we are meant to be. Who knows where we’d be without them; the comeback from the setbacks life throws at you are always great, no matter how big or small.
If I am completely transparent with you, the struggle (whatever form it might present itself in), I greet now like an old friend. I try to focus on the little things when certain things feel extra difficult. The little things may not seem like a big deal on a normal day, but can be challenging on the days you are struggling. By focusing on the little things, slowly but surely, you can get through the day and get through whatever might be bringing you down. So if for you, a small goal is getting out of bed in the morning, then focus on that; or maybe it’s to try and get at least 30 minutes of exercise in a couple of days a week, it doesn’t matter what your “little thing” is, as long as it helps you get through, then that’s all that matters.
I know that it all seems tough right now, and everything that’s happened in the past year hasn’t done anything to help, but you’re going to get through this. Remember to focus on the little things, find things that make you happy, and do things with the people you care about because, in the end, these are the things that are going to help us make it through. We’re all in this together, the struggle is only temporary, and you will come out on top! Take it from someone who’s been in your shoes in the past, as the reformed Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino once said, “The comeback is always better than the setback,” you have the tools you need in order overcome come anything! I believe in you!
Love,
A former struggler
