10 Essential Summer Pieces Transformed for the Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Collegiettes, are those adorable open-toed sandals still sitting under your twin bed begging for some toe-action? Better yet, is that cute summer dress you wore on a perfect summer date catching dust because of the not-so-warm weather? If so, open up your wardrobe as you read our guide to transforming your summer staple pieces into fall picks for the colder weather. Trust me: there is nothing dull or bland about this guide to fabulous fall attire.

1. The Sassy Open Toed Sandal
This look is for my daring Collegiette who is ready to spice up her fall look! Add a pair of chunky sweater socks with these shoes, paired with your favorite jean and anorak jacket. You’re probably looking at this like, “socks” what? You won’t be sorry when you are the fashionista everyone comes to asking you where you got those shoes and socks from!

2. The tube top
This look can get cheesy real quick, so amp up your tube top by layering on a cute, loose boyfriend cardigan, a faux fur vest, chunky sweater infinity scarf and cute skinny jeans and go! It’s all about layering ladies: keep it simple and chic.

3. Cropped Turtle Neck
Throw on a chunky grandpa sweater and leather panel leggings and go! Effortless style.

4-5. Chiffon and Circle Skirts
Don’t pack away those summer skirts just yet! Throw on some opaque tights and leave ‘em wondering where your fashion sense comes from.

6. Open Knit Sweater
Where’s that sweater you took to the beach with you faithfully this summer? Take that bad boy out, and pair your favorite long-sleeved top or turtleneck, jean jacket, and faux fur vest, and hit the town!

7. Leather Shorts
Pair you favorite colored tights and chunky booties and be the daring fashionista. An alternative to the booties would be a spiked, studded pair of flats.

8-9. Rompers and Summer Dresses
Throw on some textured tights and head out! You will be both warm and fashion forward!

10. Textured Knee High Socks
If you throw these under your favorite opaque tights, paired with a pleated leather skirt and jean jacket, you will be the diva of the hour!
