Halloween costumes have never been my strong suit. For reference, last year I was the devil, and the year before I was a cat. Back at home for fall break, I was frantically searching for anything in my closet I could use for a costume. I didn’t come across any clothing, but I came across a bucket of my old favorite children’s books. From that pile, here are the seven costumes that are both unique, and something you’ll probably already have in your closet.

  1. Eloise at the plaza

Eloise, my personal favorite children’s book, and my halloween costume of choice. A  white short sleeved button down (I just got mine from amazon),  black skirt, suspenders, and knee high socks are all you need for this look. Extra points if you have her iconic pink bow and mary janes!

  1. Rainbow fish

This costume is so easy it hurts. A metallic tube top and glittery rainbow skirt are literally all that you need. You can spice it up by adding rainbow hair tinsel or rainbow glitter onto your chest!

  1. Fancy nancy

This costume is a bit of a doozy, but way too much fun to pass up. All you really need to do to pass as fancy nancy is get a purple (or as she says, fuschia) tank, poofy skirt, and red bow around your waist. Then, you can spice it up any fancy nancy way you want! Add random hair accessories, crazy socks, and fun sunglasses to personalize the look.

  1. Llama red pajama

This one is another painfully easy one that you can do on the fly. All you need is a red pj set and llama ears! I wish I had more to say to spice it up, but it really is that easy.

  1. Angelina ballerina

I love this one so much, because it puts a spin on a traditional ballerina costume. A simple leotard and tutu, paired with pink mouse ears is all you need!

  1. Pinkalicious

Arguably the most iconic character of our century, pinkalicious can is so recognizable and fun. A pink fairy dress and pink wings will do, but don’t forget her iconic crown and wand!

  1. If you give a mouse a cookie

If you’re not feeling a dress or a skirt for halloween, this mouse is the perfect costume. Simple short overalls and converse are all you need, paired with mouse ears! Extra points if you bring around cookies.
