Not only is he a die-hard sports fan, but he also loves being a part of the business fraternity, AKPsi, and can’t wait to get new members this spring. Meet this week’s Campus Cutie, Mike Napoli!Â
Her Campus (HC): What do you like to do to keep yourself busy on campus?Â
Mike Napoli (MN): I think the biggest thing I’m involved in on campus is the business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. For this academic year, I am Vice President of Administration, and last semester I was Philanthropy Chair. So, I pledged last spring.Â
HC: Wow, you got involved very quickly!Â
MN: Yeah! I actually heard about it from two of my really good friends first semester last year. They were looking into it, and I figured I should just go to the information sessions and hear what it was all about. When I went to the information sessions, everyone was just so friendly and inviting. I’ve gotten to know a great group of people – I’ve met a lot of really cool people through it and made a lot of my best friends.Â
HC: What’s your favorite thing about Alpha Kappa Psi?
MN: My favorite thing, in general, is the mix of the professional experience you get with it in terms of people reviewing your resume or giving you mock interviews if you need them, but also just always having a great group of friends if you want to grab a meal, work on a project together, or if you need a tutor for a class. A lot of times people will help you with that. You can really get help whenever you need it and have a great groups of friends. I just love that. It’s hard to single out one thing.
HC: Spring rush is coming up! Any advice for the potential new members?Â
MN: I would just say to anyone that’s interested to remember that its co-ed and open to all majors. Most importantly, just be yourself and be comfortable, because we are all friendly and just want to get to know you!Â
HC: Okay, so spring semester just started! What class are you most looking forward to this semester?Â
MN: The class I’ve enjoyed most so far is either my finance class or my Spanish grammar class, which probably sounds like a little bit of a strange choice (laughs). But I was actually fortunate enough to study abroad last summer in Spain! I felt like I gained a lot of vocabulary through that experience, and hopefully I can get the grammar up to where the vocabulary is!Â
HC: That’s awesome! Do you think you’d want to study abroad again? Â
MN: I really thought about it, and even though I had such a great time in Spain, I don’t think I will, just because I love Wake so much, and during the summer I might need to have an internship or a job.
HC: Do you have a favorite memory from your trip to Spain?Â
MN: That is a hard question! (Laughs) Maybe the first or second day of the trip? Going into it I was a little out of my comfort zone and a little unsure of what it would be like, but the second day of the program I got together with all the guys on the program, professor, and my host mom. Just realizing, in that moment, that the trip was already off to such a great start calmed me down a lot and got me so excited to make the most of the five weeks I was there.Â
HC: That sounds so fun! Tell me more about some of your hobbies and interests?
MN: I’m a really big sports fan! I try to go to as many football games and basketball games that I can. Of course, sometimes conflicts come up, but I always try to make the best of it! Aside from that, I just love hanging out with my friends. I also play the piano – not well, I might add (laughs), but I took lessons for a while and just try to keep it in my fingers.Â
HC: What’s your favorite kind of music? Do have a favorite band or artist?
MN: Honestly, I listen to everything. I guess I like more mainstream artists, like The Weeknd and Drake. I like Passion Pit and a bunch of other artists. It’s honestly whatever I’m in the mood to listen too! I started getting into Oh Wonder lately, and they’re pretty good.Â
HC: If they were making a movie about your life, who would you want to star as you?Â
MN: I think Adam Sandler can make anything funny, no matter how ridiculous it is.Â
HC: Do you have a favorite food?Â
MN: Anything that my mom makes! Her homemade pastas are really good!Â
HC: Lastly, what’s your idea of the perfect date?Â
MN: Something simple. Maybe going hiking at Pilot Mountain on a nice spring day and then coming back to campus and eating on the patio outside of the Mag Room. You get such a nice view of south campus!Â
