If you plan to be in your “Summer lovin’ had me a blast” era, as the song Summer Nights by John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John talks about, then this article is for you! Who doesn’t want a significant other to spend the long summer days and sneak out past curfew with? Whether it be a seasonal fling or a long-term love, there are many fun and adventurous activities to discover over the summer. Here are my top five recommendations for dates/activities with the one you love for this summer.
1. Weekend Getaway
There is nothing more fun than escaping the reality of everyday life and taking a trip to a new location! This is a great way to carve out alone time and quality time with your significant other. Go to restaurants, explore a new city, or sit at the beach together and enjoy the sun! Some locations I would recommend (keep in mind I am from the East Coast so my suggestions reflect that): Kennebunkport, Maine; Newport, Rhode Island; and the Hamptons.
2. Amusement Park
This suggestion is one of my all-time favorites! What could be better than conquering that fear of heights with your significant other? Amusement parks are the best place to let loose, get lost in the thrill of the rides, and of course hold your partner’s hand on the way up to the big drop on the roller coaster. This is a great activity because it helps your partnership grow through helping each other and comforting one another in times of fear. I have gone to an amusement park with a significant other and it helped me face my fear of the drop tower! That could be you this summer!
3. Beach Day
Whether this includes just you and your partner or your friends too, a beach day is the most fun! Waking up early and driving to the shore while listening to country music is fun within itself, but getting to the beach and jumping waves with your significant other can be one of the best activities. It is a perfect way to unwind and have a chill day with your partner.
4. Picnic
I am such a foodie so to me nothing is better than a cute little picnic with your S.O. over the summer. You can bring any foods that make you happy. For me, picnics scream charcuterie board! To make the picnic even more meaningful, you could choose to do it in a place that holds meaning in your relationship. For example, the place you first met!
5. An Outdoor Movie
Movie dates are classic, but somehow with the added twist of the outdoors, they become a little more magical. This can be as simple as you and your significant other putting a blanket outside on the grass and setting up a computer. However, you can also find a drive-in movie theater near you to spice it up a little bit! I think that this is a really classic and cute summer date idea that everyone should do!
