Fall is the best season to be a Demon Deacon. The leaves are changing, the Deacs are (somehow) winning, pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks and it’s time for Hit the Bricks.  Each year Wake students, faculty and staff gather on the Quad for a full day’s relay race all to benefit cancer research.  The competing teams draw from all over campus and include fraternities and sororities, community service organizations and even some groups such as Student Union and Student Government.  The registration fee, each lap ran and additional donations raise money to benefit the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund honoring the memory of Wake Forest alum and pro football player Brian Piccolo.Â
