In light of the last home game of the season, Her Campus decided to get to know Wake’s STARTING QUARTERBACK for a very special edition of Campus Cutie. Meet the young and talented John Wolford!
HC (Her Campus): So you’re fresh out of high school and you have been starting every game. What’s that like?
JW (John Wolford): It has been an adjustment, but I love that I am playing, and I love the guys I play with.
HC: How did you first get involved with football?
JW: I have a football family, so my dad started me when I was about 6 years old.
HC: What do you like most about football?
JW: Winning of course, but besides that there isn’t one particular thing.
HC: Why did you choose Wake Forest?
JW: I chose Wake because of its academic reputation and where our football team is going to be in the near future.
HC: What were some of your other choices?
JW: Penn State, Mississippi State, and East Carolina were some of the major schools I considered.
HC: Does your family come to most games?
JW: A fair amount – my brother plays for Boston College so they alternate between our games.
HC: What has been your favorite game so far?
JW: Army.
HC: If you didn’t play football, what other sport would you play?
JW: Baseball – I played that throughout high school.
HC: How would you approach a girl if you were interested?
JW: I try to mix it up and be creative, but it really depends on the girl.
HC: What is your biggest turnoff?
JW: Too much PDA and excessive makeup.
HC: What has your favorite class been this semester?
JW: My FYS 100 – it’s called Deconstructing Beyoncé.
HC: What’s your favorite thing about Wake?
JW: There isn’t a specific thing, but the campus is second to none.
HC: What do you like to do off the field?
JW: Movies, naps, and going off campus to eat.
HC: What’s your dream job?
JW: The NFL is always a goal of mine, but if that doesn’t work out, either a career in business or a career as an orthopedic surgeon.
HC: Do you have a pet at home?
JW: We have a Chihuahua back home, and I’ll admit that I miss the little guy.
HC: Have you felt homesick at all?
JW: I haven’t, for the most part, because I have kept busy.
HC: What are you looking forward to the most when you go home?
JW: Seeing my family and high school friends again.
