Name: Robert Kohler Kane ‘15
From: Atlanta, Georgia
High school: Westminster
Major/Career Path: Pre-Med
Her Campus (HC): What all did you do this summer?
Kohler Kane (KK): I lifeguarded and hung out with friends. I wish every summer could be like that.
HC: Do you have any nickname(s)?
KK: KoKo, Koko puff, KoKane, Koko bongo … My sister Laughlin (a senior here at Wake) calls me that sometimes.
HC: Relationship status?
KK: Married … kidding, but I do have a girlfriend.
HC: Freshmen dorm?
KK: Babcock.
HC: Who’s your roommate?
KK: Daniel Curtis, the coolest kid at Wake and recent grad Matthew Curtis’ (’11) younger brother.
HC: Where all did you apply to?
KK: Just Wake. I applied early decision.
HC: That’s what we like to hear! Why Wake?
KK: Because it’s a lot like Westminster and has an awesome campus. I’m probably a little biased because of Laughlin and McKinley (‘Loff’ is a senior and Mckin graduated in 2010). And who doesn’t want to go to a school with a Demon Deacon as the mascot?
HC: What was your most rewarding high school experience?
KK: A few come to mind, but becoming an Eagle Scout stands out. I got it right after I turned 18. I built exercise equipment for the dogs at the Atlanta Humane Society that they can play and train on. It really was an awesome experience and a cool way to make friends.
HC: Did you do any pre-orientation events?
KK: I did Pre-School. Yeah there was a lot of the cliché singing and holding hands, but there were good discussion groups to help get affiliated with upperclassmen and the campus.
HC: What are your expectations for your next four years at Wake?
KK: I hope to have fun and pledge a fraternity, and I hope to not fail. We’ll see how that goes. Maybe I’ll at least do moderately well in my classes.
HC: Who is your favorite superhero?
KK: That’s a toughy. Iron Man. He’s badass.
HC: Any other reason why you like Iron Man?
KK: Nope. He’s badass. That’s all.
HC: How do you feel about your Wake legacy, following in the footsteps of your two older sisters?
KK: I feel like I have a reputation to live up to. I’m ready to take it on. I hope people will be pleasantly surprised.
HC: Does your sister (Laughlin) stalk you all the time?
KK: I’m sure she does.
HC: When was your first kiss?
KK: My first real kiss? First peck kiss was probably pre-K. My first real kiss was the summer between 7th and 8th grade. I did kiss Lindsey Harris in pre-school though.
HC: What frustrates you?
KK: Online homework assignments. Web Assign and Sakai in general.
HC: Who is your favorite Family Guy character?
KK: Brian … actually change that. I like Stewie because he’s a talking baby and wants to take over the world.
HC: What is your favorite country (apart from the U.S.)?
KK: I love Argentina and everything associated with it. Summer of junior year, I went on an exchange program there for five weeks. We lived with a host family. I went to school with them and hung out on the weekends with them. I really got to live in their culture. They’re really chill. And it was during the World Cup. We got school cancelled one day because Argentina was playing.
HC: What is something your family makes fun of you for?
KK: This is weird, but I used to like building things, so I made a blowgun to hunt squirrels in my backyard. And I may have had a laser on it because I thought it was cool.
HC: That’s not too embarrassing.
KK: It is for me.
HC: What is your weirdest quirk?
KK: I blow my nose really loudly. People make fun of me on my hall for it.
