Spring semester is now in full swing which means campus is buzzing with things to do and opportunities to be seized. One opportunity that is fast approaching is TEDxWakeForestU. Sarah Crewse, a sophomore and Nashville,Tennessee native, intends to double major in psychology and economics. She does it all, Sarah is a member of Alpha Delta Pi, a student adviser, a psychology research assistant, a member of the Campus Life Advisory Committee and the Event Manager for TEDxWakeForestU. Her Campus was fortunate enough to talk to Sarah (amidst her busy schedule) and learn more about her and her involvement with TEDxWakeForestU.
HC: What are some of your hobbies? Favorite things in general?
Sarah Crewse: I love kayaking, thrifting, and eating thai food. Not to mention I am a PROUD feminist, advocate for human rights, movie-watching fanatic, and an avid tea drinker.
HC: What’s a fun fact about you? A weird flex?
SC: My weirdest flex is I can say all fifty states in alphabetical order in 13.73 seconds. Also my favorite movie is The Big Short & I get emotional about the negative implications of corn subsidies. Weird, I know.
HC:What has been your favorite memory while at Wake Forest?
SC: My favorite memory at Wake Forest is really just an accumulation of the little memories of when I found my best friends. When I look back at my two years here, those moments of really clicking with someone and having them become a significant part of my life stand out the most.
HC:Why did you decide to get involved with TEDxWakeForestU?
SC: I got involved with TEDxWakeForestU my freshman year as a volunteer and became enamored with the event. TED talks have always been a source of inspiration for me and I wanted to dive in deeper and help make this inspiration a reality. I honestly listen to the TED Radio Hour on NPR more than I listen to music. It is both humbling and exhilarating to hear about the awesome ways humanity is expressing themselves.
HC: What have you loved the most throughout your experience with TEDxWakeForestU?
SC: The coolest thing about being in TEDxWakeForestU is watching our ideas become real and tangible. The event is essentially entirely student run, so watching my team flex their skills and get sh*t done is downright motivational.
HC: Why would you recommend people attend the TEDxWakeForestU event?
SC: The fact that Wake Forest has this intellectually stimulating and thought-provoking event for students at no cost is wonderful. It would be negligent to miss out on this opportunity to hear humans talk to other humans about what makes them psyched!! At the end of the day, TED talks provide a platform for new ideas that can shape our perspectives, our communities, and our futures. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?
*TEDxWakeForestU will be taking place on Saturday, February 23, from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM in Wait Chapel at Wake Forest University.
