Netflix Originals Everyone Needs to Watch

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Netflix has done it again! Netflix just released the remake of the classic “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” but with a darker twist.  The show is called Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and embodies a darker side of the comedic witch and talking cat we all know and love. With Netflix doing so well with their own original works, I thought I would give you some other wonderful Netflix shows or movies to add to your watch list because none of them will disappoint.

  1. “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.”

If you haven’t watched this movie you must be living under a rock because it exploded at the end of the summer with immediate success.  The plot line is adorable and the casting is impeccable. This is a warm heartening movie that will definitely make you smile, I have watched this movie more times than I can count and it never disappoints me.  I really want to read the books now just so I can get more Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky content.

2. “Stranger Things.”

Again, if you haven’t heard of this I really hope living under your rock is comfortable, but it is time to come out.  This show is so creative and does not disappoint as you embark on the journeys of Mike Wheeler and his friends in search of their friend Will in season one and the even darker journey of the mysteries of their town Hawkins. Unfortunately this Halloween we will not be getting season 3, but I will patiently keep waiting until it comes out. If you have seen it already go ahead and re-watch for the Halloween season!

3. “Anne with an E.”

Honestly one of my favorite tv shows of all time.  This is a remake of the classic story of Anne of Green Gables. This show will catch the hearts of any girl who feels different as Anne with her classic red hair and freckles faces struggles through school, her new family, and of course, the troublesome and handsome Gilbert Blythe. This story shows the power of love and that family comes in so many different forms and that someone’s background shouldn’t matter.

4. “13 Reasons Why.”

This show is definitely not for the light-hearted and contains some extremely triggering material so be sure to listen to the cast’s message before the show in order to decide if this is the show for you. However, if you do decide to listen to Hannah’s story along with her classmates, you will embark on a story that deserves to be told and listened to. The show conveys an important message to look out for those around you and to show more kindness and love towards others because you have absolutely no idea what they are going through. This story is one that involves something that people are truly struggling with and I think that this show can give a platform for discussion to begin.

5.  “When We First Met.”

A cute rom com with a twist. Definitely will bring a smile to your face and make you feel the butterflies that always come with watching a cute love story. A good one to watch this week as part of it revolves around Halloween. This movie kind of got overlooked by some of the other Netflix rom-coms *cough Kissing Booth cough,* but I think the plot in general is better.
