Remember That Time My Roomie and I…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

For many collegiettes, freshman year of college means living with someone else for the first time. And at Wake, that “someone else” is selected totally randomly! Some roomies end up being best friends and some don’t, but almost every pair of roomies has at least one fun experience together! Have you two had yours yet?

Bonding over Gossip Girl (or anything available on Netflix)

My roomie and I had both never watched Gossip Girl before! So on one quiet Saturday night, we watched episode 10 of Season One, ate popcorn and ended up getting into a heated discussion about how much we hated CeCe Rhodes (aka Evil Grandma). At least we only had to deal with her for one episode! Spending the night in watching TV with my roomie was a great way to relax and get to know each other better. You should definitely try it if you haven’t already.

Dance Partying in Your Room

Whenever my roomie gets ready for parties, she blasts rap music and dances around the room. While she has some pretty sick dance moves, I on the other hand do not. Luckily, we found the middle ground: an “awkward dance moves” dance party! We just danced the way we did at middle school formals (which consisted of lots of arm waving and jumping up and down). It got even funnier when we added the “awkward face” to our awkward dance moves. We had so much fun and we laughed so hard for so long. If you want to cut loose, try having a dance party with your roomie!

Procrastinating on Lab Reports

Hey, we all get behind on work. Why not be “behind” together? I remember the night before our third chemistry lab — my roomie and I stayed up until around 2:00 in the morning because we had both procrastinated. We laughed at each other and promised to work on the next one together on the Friday before it was due. We didn’t. We procrastinated together again…we don’t recommend doing this…

Happy roomie bonding, everyone!
