Julia DeNuzzio is a junior Studio Art major, and Her Campus’s incoming Head of Photography. We studied abroad together last semester, and she always managed to look très chic during our treks across France. Now back in Winston-Salem, she’s showing off her great personal style, and the results of a few Parisian shopping trips, around campus. Here are her thoughts on campus style, from getting dressed in the morning to summer sneaker trends.
How would you describe your personal style? Impulsive. Usually the outfits I get the most compliments on are the ones where I just pull out random things from my closet, decide they go well enough together, and wing it. Most of my closet is pretty simple and basic, but I’ve got some gems too, like a lemon yellow blouse, hippie jeans, and the perfect white t-shirt.
What is your on-campus uniform? I keep it basic, but I like to add a little twist, whether it is with texture, color, layers or proportions. Just think: a black and white striped maxi dress, a loose blue sweater, booties and chunky jewelry. Separately, they’re all simple items, but together they’re a little unexpected.
What summer fashion trend are you most looking forward to? Right now, I am most excited about the sneaker trend. They go with anything! Denim or tailored shorts, jeans, sundresses, maxi dresses, skirts, and any style or pattern goes! Leopard-print Vans and navy/white New Balance tennis shoes are two completely different looks but are both so trendy right now.
