Visiting the Graylyn Estate has always been on my Wake Forest Bucket List, yet like the Reynolda House, this Winston-Salem staple somehow alluded me until my senior year. Â My parents were coming for one last visit before graduation, and decided to do something different than the local Marriott and book a room at the Graylyn Estate. Â The moment I entered the gates, I felt as if I’d somehow wandered to another country. Â From the overwhelmingly kind service to the old British cabby parked outside the main house, I felt as if I’d been dropped into an English countryside estate. Â My parents stayed in the “Mews” or a fancier word for what used to be the stable houses. Â We enjoyed long walks around the massive grounds, climbing over enchanting bridges to feed the ducks, and feeling completely transported from the bogged down city of Winston-Salem. Â I am so glad that I had the opportunity to even walk around the estate, and highly recommend all Wake students go there for a jog or walk on a sunny day. Â Check out my pictures, and if you haven’t made your way over to Graylyn, even just for the day, make it a priority the next time the sun comes out.
