A recent survey conducted by our Warwick SU Women’s Officer Emma-Marie Okoroafor has revealed some troubling results about students’ views on the accessibility of information regarding contraceptives and sexual health services at Warwick.
The survey has shown that 57% of the respondents didn’t know where to get an implant or coil, and that 58% weren’t sure where they’d be able to get dental dams or condoms for free (not including the SU).
A whopping 70% of respondents admitted to being unaware of the cost of the emergency contraceptive pill, with 67% not knowing where they would be able to access it for free.
A further 85% didn’t know where they might obtain a free 60-second HIV test, and 71% of the respondents also did not know where they would be able to find abortion services if they wanted to.
A ruling majority of the respondents maintained that there is not enough information on where to find contraceptives and abortion access, and in response to this Emma has made a helpful, straightforward advice leaflet detailing various reachable services and resources on sexual health and contraception, that can be found here: https://www.warwicksu.com/asset/Blog/92/Contraceptive-advice-leaflet-v2.pdf
