Fall is Back and So Are Your Favorite TV Shows

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waseda chapter.

It’s official everyone, fall is here and bringing the best of television with it. This fall is sweeping in with our favorite TV friends, ready to distract us from our school work and make us feel all of the feels. Whether you’re itching to hang with the stylish and dramatic gang from Riverdale or take down a Demogorgon, this season has the perfect adventures waiting just for you.

Riverdale S2

Archie and the gang are back in Riverdale’s highly anticipated second season! Following a shocking cliffhanger that leaves Fred’s (Archie’s dad) life hanging in the balance, it’s no question that fans are eager to figure out who done it and if Fred (perhaps the sanest character in Riverdale) will survive.

As far as the trailer is concerned, this season is going darker and deeper than we could have imagined. Will Fred pull through? How will Archie handle the trauma? What of our beloved Bughead? Varchie? The questions are endless and will only begin to be answered on October 11th when Riverdale returns!

Stranger Things S2

It’s time to go back to the Upside Down with our Demogorgon-slaying friends from Hawkins. If this sentence makes no sense to you, checking out the first season of this award-winning show is highly recommended, if not mandatory. The end of the previous season was seemingly an optimistic one with Will rescued from the Upside Down (RIP Barb) and Eleven defeating the Demogorgon. That is until Will coughs up a nasty mystery tentacle and we’re left wondering what will become of Will and the town of Hawkins, Indiana.

Gotta love this trailer. So spooky. So fall/ October/ Halloween appropriate. Prepare your Halloween candy and décor because season two of Stranger Things begins on October 27th!

Outlander S3

Sing me a song of a lass that is goooone! Here is a show that has already made its return and is already better than ever. After Claire and Jamie’s heartbreaking farewell in the previous season, fans have been waiting a painfully long time to see the two time-defying soulmates back together again.  Picking up right where we left off with the Battle of Culloden and Claire’s return to her own time and Frank, season three is absolutely teeming with drama. While those who have read the books already know what to expect from this season, the anticipation to see it unfold onscreen remains.

With the first few episodes already out, it is no doubt that this season is going to be another winner. Drama+romance+action= the perfect recipe for obsession.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine S5

In need of a little more comedy in your life? Well, our favorite police squad is back and ready to bring the laughs. More like a lovably dysfunctional family than a crime-fighting squad, the gang at the nine-nine have a habit of getting caught up in their own shenanigans and workplace drama. This time, with some of their own in serious trouble, the squad faces big challenges ahead. Don’t worry, while this sounds more dramatic than funny, you’re sure to be laughing your way through the season.

Much like Outlander, the new season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine has already begun! No waiting necessary! Nine-Nine!

Black Mirror S4

The past three seasons of Black Mirror have been very impressive to say the least. Showcasing technology based futuristic stories, this show has become well known for telling sometimes shocking and, to some extent, cautionary tales about the role of technology in our lives. Although watching this show isn’t exactly the most relaxing activity, it brings up important questions about how to approach our ever developing, tech-dependent society. How much should we rely on our gadgets? Will the artificial world bring the world as we know it to an end?

Since there is not yet an official release date, this might be the perfect time to watch or re-watch past episodes to prepare for the mind-blowing content that is sure to come.

Are you excited yet? If this line-up of fantastic television doesn’t get you pumped up, I don’t know what will. One of the best seasons of television is upon us. May your workload be light and Wi-Fi connection strong.

Thanks for reading! :)
