Must like:Â Survivor, badgers, hangin’ out by Millbrook Pool on a sunny day and warm vacation destinations (shouldn’t be a problem) among other things. This junior earns the spot as this week’s Campus Cutie with his southern charm, on-campus involvement and most importantly, this picture (not really… but kinda). As an involved member of Thurtene as well as a major in the B-School and a minor in Poli-sci, he is a well-rounded, dapper fellow that we cannot believe had not already been named Cutie in the past. Without further adieu, John Carney:
Hometown:Â Madison, Mississippi
Major/minor:Â Major in Economics & Strategy, minor in Political Science
On-campus involvement: Sigma Chi, Thurtene and Club Basketball
What’s your favorite passtime in St. Louis? When I was here last summer, I really just enjoyed lazy days by Millbrook Pool and hanging around the Loop.
All-time favorite TV show? Survivor. Yes, it still exists and yes, it’s still awesome.
What’s the coolest place you’ve ever traveled to? Tallinn, Estonia. Their Old Town looks and feels like it’s straight out of Medieval times. It’s full of cobblestone streets and castles. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
Vacation destination preference: hot or cold? Definitely hot.
Favorite restaurant on the Loop? Seoul is the easy answer but if I’m really going for a guilty pleasure meal, I’d get the chorizo nachos and wings from Kings.
If you could have an exotic pet, what would it be? I’d probably have a Honey Badger, sort of like a guard dog but way better.
Coolest class you’ve ever taken at Wash U? Probably my first game theory class freshman year. It really caught my attention and then ended up being the reason I chose to major in Econ & Strat.
What is the best piece of advice you have for incoming freshmen? Do not try to study in your common room. You won’t get anything done and will just end up complaining with everyone about your workload.Â
