Mike McGovern 2014

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

After enduring two-and-a-half months on crutches after a bad tackle during a football game, Campus Cutie Mike McGovern will be back to typical mobility in less than one week. Catch his eye by casually perusing StumbleUpon.com for postmodernist themes (I’m not kidding) while eating a pastrami Reuben sandwich in the Village. Add to Mike’s intellect his quiet confidence from his years at an all-boys school, where “you didn’t have to worry about impressing girls until after school.” And his specialty? A peanut butter jelly sandwich prepared like a grilled cheese. Smart, easygoing and he can cook? This Campus Cutie is the whole package!

Hometown? San Francisco, California.
Grade? Sophomore.
Activities on campus? I’m the punt returner on the football team and I’m in Phi Delt. And I live in the “Sports and Nutrition” block.
Studying? Finance.
Where can I find you at 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon? In the AC with all the dudes lifting weights. Classic Phi Delt.
What about at 2 am on a Saturday night? Probably on the block with a bunch of my friends listening to music.
Do you have a nightly routine? I do my homework and play video games with the guys. Obviously I brush my teeth too. I hit the sack pretty late.
What is the last book you read? The Average American Male by Chad Kultgen. It’s a really raunchy book – it’s not for the faint of heart.
Your favorite possession? My hats. I kind of have a hat collection. I’m not obsessed or anything but when they go missing, I take it to heart.
What is the first thing you notice in a girl? Whether or not she gives off good vibes, like how she carries herself.
TV show addiction? We’ve been watching a lot of Breaking Bad on the block.
Hardest class you’re taking this semester? Finance 340. My parents always tell me if it’s not hard, then it’s probably not worth it.
What is your power breakfast? I’m such a late sleeper so breakfast is kind of like lunch…11 am stir-fry is my thing.
Any movie that you wish was your life? Any Given Sunday – those guys are football studs.
What do you listen to when you work out? I listen to a lot of Drake and Wiz Khalifa.
When is the last time you wore a tie? Hmm…probably for an interview.
If you could have a water fountain dispense any drink, what would it be? Natty Light, probably the most bro drink on the planet.
Tell me about your first kiss. It was in 7th grade after class with this girl that I had been going out with for ten months. We would always go to an after school program together and we were just sitting on a bench. First it was on the cheek and then it escalated to lips.
If your name wasn’t Michael, what would it be? Larry. My dad’s name is Larry, so I probably will name my son Larry.
