Easy Ways to Make Your Friends Feel Loved Year-Round

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Washington chapter.

Have you ever felt like your friends and family don’t really know just how much you love and appreciate them? You spend time together, you talk, but in the busy, crazy world we live in, what can you do to show that you care about them a lot? Here are some simple things you can do to show your friends and family that you care!

1. Check In

Text or call just to say hello and ask how they’re doing. It also serves as a reminder that they have people like you who care about them and are there if they ever need help.

2. Post Pictures

Let them know you value your time with them by posting photos of you spending time together (don’t forget to tag them!). These pictures can be new or old, both are great. If you don’t have many pictures together,

3. Be Present

When you’re spending time with them, you shouldn’t be sitting there on your phone, you should be talking to them and enjoying their company. It’s fine if you’re looking at something on a phone together, just make sure they can tell that they’re more important to you than social media and the internet.

4. Bring Food

Showing up with a surprise dinner or dessert for someone is a great way to make them feel loved. Bonus points if it’s homemade!

5. Listen

Everyone has interests and hobbies and you don’t have to share all of the same ones. That being said, it’s still important to listen and be engaged when they’re talking about something that’s important to them, even if it doesn’t particularly interest you. Though it seems like such a small thing, knowing they are being heard will definitely make them feel loved.

6. Give Hugs

Sometimes actions speak louder than words. Whether it’s a hello hug, a goodbye hug, or a just because hug, you and your loved one will both feel appreciated
