About two weeks ago, my best friend Tammy called me on the phone and asked,

“Yo, are you still tracking your period on the Flo App?”

“Nah, I had crappy phone storage so I deleted it a while ago”

“You have to download it! There is a cool chat feature and it’s so funnyyy”

It has been ages since I had the Flo phone app downloaded. The app was a way for me to log in that “time of the month” on a calendar. The app becomes more accurate the more you use it, allowing you to expect and make sense of the sudden outbursts of crying and overall moodiness that derives from PMS and whatnot. I mean, at least that’s what I use it for.

You know, you would think that after over a decade of having blood exerting your body every month would make you an expert at understanding these hormonal changes, but it really doesn’t. No, it does not. It’s like right after that week passes by, your mind forgets that the apple-eating Eve shall come by again to share her torture, and then….BAAM. Surprise attack.

So as per my best friend’s urge to get me to re-download the app for some new and *exciting* feature, I gladly obliged.

Upon opening the app, there was now a new “Secret Chats” feature on the bottom right corner. The Secret Chats feature is a way for Flo users to chat about certain health, relationship, sex questions, and more, anonymously. Flo will make these questions, and anonymous Flo users can chat away about their sex life, questions about their body, and more without the shame, guilt, or feeling of what society calls a “taboo subject” that is the female anatomy.

If you’ve ever had a question about your body that you’ve always been afraid to ask, chances are that other women have, too, and Flo App’s awesome new feature serves as a platform for these supportive, and often hilarious, discussions. The vibe is always positive – girls supporting girls.

After spending some time reading through the secret chat, I have honestly learned so much about my body! I took a quarter of a sex education class, but nothing compares to hearing about other women’s insights, because everyone’s experience with their bodies is so different, but at the same time, also very similar.

So what are you waiting for? Download the Flo App if you haven’t already (it’s free), and be welcomed into the new *kinda*-social-media-platform-but-not space and just go learn more about what makes our female bodies freaking amazing.
