During the last few weeks of the quarter, it can be easy to slip into an unmotivated mindset and lifestyle. From feeling burnt out from classes to struggling with the cold weather, it might feel hard to get out of bed some days. When I noticed that I was feeling this way, instead of beating myself up about it, I decided to show myself some love and self-care. Here are six self-care practices that I tried out that I hope might help you, too!

1. Meal plan

I took the time to plan out my meals and made sure to intentionally treat myself every so often to something that I knew would make my body incredibly happy. Some days that looked like treating myself to a Starbucks refresher, other days that meant splurging on Talenti ice cream at the DM! I began to look forward to my meals and take better care of myself.

2. Reading time

Between classes, tests, and projects, it can definitely be a challenge to take the time to read a book for fun. I made sure to first find a book that I would be genuinely excited to read every night and then plan out my study schedule so that I always had time before bed to get in a chapter or two. I’m currently re-reading Sally Rooney’s Beautiful World Where Are You? and am loving it even more the second time around.

3. Skincare Routine

Have a classic self-care night complete with face masks, lip treatments, and lotions! I’ve been loving using the Laneige lip sleep mask every night!

4. Instacart

While taking a walk to Trader Joe’s or QFC can be great way to clear your mind, there’s always the option of Instacart when you feel like a day spent indoors might be better for your self-care regime. Last week, I used Instacart to get a bunch of my groceries and essentials from QFC and it worked perfectly!

5. Cleaning and Cleansing

Whenever I’m feeling down, I tend to make a mess out of my dorm. Clothes on the floor, expired groceries in the fridge, and dishes galore. This weekend, I spent a few hours cleaning my dorm, reorganizing my closet, and even doing some redecorating!

6. Girls Night

My favorite form of self care is spending time with my best girl friends! This weekend I planned a fun girls night filled with self-care, good food, and better company! We did karaoke while snacking on some of our favorite comfort foods. One of the best ways to care for yourself is to care for those you love, too!

From having a sweet treat to top off the night to spending time with your best friends, there are diverse and fun ways to practice some self care in these last few weeks of the quarter!
