Happy Winter everyone! With the recent snowfall that has fallen over Seattle, it is clear that the happiest time of the year is finally here. With the weather turning frigid, it’s time for cozy nights inside; and what’s better than cozying up for a winter movie night?! Here are some of my favorite go to winter films to watch on a cold winter evening.

I’m Thinking Of Ending things (2020)

I’m Thinking of Ending Things is directed by the astounding Charlie Kaufman (behind other surrealist works such as: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, Synecdoche, New York, and Anomalisa). The movie itself follows a woman visiting her boyfriend’s family for the first time. ALthough it becomes clear very fast, that something is not as it seems. This is a must-see for fans of a slow-burn, anticipation paced movie. If you are a fan of: The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Donnie Darko, Mulholland Drive

Fargo (1996)

Fargo is a 1996 film directed by one of the critically acclaimed Coen Brothers (Ethan Coen). They created other recognized works such as No Country for Old Men, The Big Lebowski, and Barton Fink. The film itself is set in a snow-covered Minnesota, depicting the real life crime of the murder of Helle Crafts. Featuring actors such as Steve Bucemi, Frances McDormand, and William H. Macy.If you are a fan of: No Country for Old Men, Punch-Drunk Love, Nightcrawler, Stand by Me

It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)

Now taking a turn to the classics, It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), is a staple whenever the holiday season begins to draw near each year. You might recognize this film before even watching it with the famous line, “Everytime a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.” In short, Clarence (an angel sent from heaven) is sent to help George find a new meaning in life. It’s a beautiful telling of love, loss, humanity, and the struggles of life. I recommend everyone must give it a watch at least once in your life.  If you are a fan of: Miracle on 34th Street, Tokyo Godfathers, Scrooged, Christmas in Connecticut, Meet Me in St. Louis

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

The Grand Budapest Hotel
(2014) always seems to get better with every watch. Taking place in Zubrowka (A fictional Eastern European Ski Resort town), follows the efforts of Zero and Gustave H., and their endeavors after Gustave inherits a priceless painting. If you are a fan of: The French Dispatch, Little Miss Sunshine, Her, Knives Out, Moonrise Kingdom.
