Taylor Swift has been re-recording her albums so she can have full ownership of them. Most recently, she released Red (Taylor’s Version) in November 2021. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was her first re-recorded album, which she released in April 2021. Everyone is wondering though, which album will she re-release next?

Many theories were circulating about which album would be next. I was convinced that it would be Speak Now. Since Taylor released “This Love (Taylor’s Version)” in May, there was speculation that 1989 would be next since “This Love” is from that album, and she had previously released “Wildest Dreams (Taylor’s Version)” also from 1989. At the same time she released “This Love (Taylor’s Version),” she released two new merch collections. One for 1989 and one for Speak Now. Both collections include hats, shirts, jewelry, and other accessories.

With clues pointing in both directions, could it be possible that Taylor will be releasing two albums? Fans have speculated that these albums could be announced or dropped on May 13, since 13 is Taylor’s favorite number. Still, it’s possible that only one or no album will be released. There have been multiple hints left on the Taylor Swift Merch website and in her stint on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

When promoting “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” in April 2021, Taylor was on The Late Show and referenced 1989 several times. On her store, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” CDs were priced at $19.89, another nod to the album. However, “Red (Taylor’s Version)” CDs hinted at Speak Now. They were priced at $20.10, the year the original album was released, and the price was in purple, the color of the album cover.

Clearly, there have been lots of clues and a lot to unpack. Taylor Swift loves sneaking in hints and getting fans excited. Only time will tell which album will be next, but it seems like 1989, Speak Now, or both are coming soon!
