Christmas may be just a few short days away, but it can be hard to get into a Christmas mood at times. This is especially true when you’ve spent the last couple weeks camped out in a library studying for finals, and there hasn’t even been much snow to inspire white Christmas vibes. So, if you’re feeling more bah humbug than holly jolly, there are a few things you can do to help get yourself unto the Christmas spirit:
Â
1. Watch some of your favourite Christmas classics.
Elf and The Grinch are never a bad choice.
Â
2. Watch some brand new Christmas movies.
Netflix has countless new tacky Christmas movies out this year and, honestly, I kind of want to watch all of them.
Â
3. Bake Christmas cookies.
This is great because it helps you get into a Christmas mood and you also end up with cookies. Double win!
Â
4. Give yourself a festive manicure.
You can keep it simple with just plain red or green nail polish, or you can go all out with festive designs.
Â
5. Decorate a gingerbread house.
This lets you exercise your creative side and eat a house. What could be better??
Â
6. Indulge in a seasonal drink.
If it’s exam season and you’re going to be loading up on caffeine anyway, you may as well get it from something that feels Christmas-y, like a peppermint mocha or a gingerbread latte.
Â
7. Listen to Christmas music.
In the words of Buddy the elf, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”
Â
8. Check out local holiday-themed events.
A quick Google search of Christmas + Waterloo (or whatever place you’re going home to for the holidays) is sure to reveal countless local events like Christmas markets and craft shows.
Â
On that note, power through those last exams, and have an amazing holiday season and 2 weeks off from school!
