Whether you have a light workload or need a study break here are the perfect Thanksgiving-themed episodes to watch during the the “Thanksgiving break.” These 8 T.V. specials will get you in the perfect spirit for the season!
1. F.R.I.E.N.D.S – The One with the Rumor
If you’re a F.R.I.E.N.D.S. fan then we can both agree that this episode is a classic and a must-watch on turkey day. If you aren’t a fan, let’s just say that this will convince you otherwise. This episode has everything you could want: a young Brad Pitt, and other great stuff (but tbh, Brad is the best and nothing else really matters).
2. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. – The One with Rachel’s Other Sister
This one makes the list simply for Christina Applegate’s hilarious character (and won an Emmy for it too). She manages to insult each and every character on the show over the course of one episode, in a hilarious span of events.
3. Community: Cooperative Escapism in Familial Relations
In this episode, Jeff Winger finally meets his father and Brita is there to make it awkward (of course). Not your traditional Thanksgiving day television, but fans of community will agree that’s basically the whole point of this show.
4. Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Thanksgiving
Reason #1 – Boyle Bingo. Also, Amy decides to host Thanksgiving dinner as a way to get closer to Captain Holt and that means everyone together in one tiny apartment. We can only assume this will be amazing and there isn’t much more you can ask for from this show.
5. How I Met Your Mother: Slapsgiving
Slapsgiving – aka: (one of) Barney’s biggest mistakes in the series. Marshall takes a festive spin on his slap-bet with Barney as the gang celebrates their first Thanksgiving as a group after Lily and Marshall get married.
6. Modern Family: Punkin’ Chunkin’
The family is divided into “dreamers” (Cam, Phil, Gloria) and “realists” (Mitchell, Claire, Jay) who all end up at a football field to chuck pumpkins in a catapult-like device. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s the perfect coming together that a family needs on a day of thanks.
7. Bob’s Burgers: An Indecent Thanksgiving Proposal
The Belcher family finds themselves wrapped up in some scheme involving their landlord Mr.Fischoeder, and obviously it’s a mess in typical Belcher fashion. While I do love this show, it’s clear that the title alone is merit enough for this list.
8. Family Guy: Thanksgiving
The Griffins host Thanksgiving with the Carter and Babs, Adam and Carol, Joe and Bonnie and Quagmire and his dad Ida. A surprise guest at dinner causes many heated debates, and Patrick Stewart voices a baby girl’s thoughts. Pretty great television if you ask me!
9. Honorable Mention: The Blind Side
Not technically a T.V. Show, but definitely a great thanksgiving movie. You can never go wrong with Sandy B, but this movie is truly great and probably one of my favourites (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t even LIKE sports movies!) 10/10 would recommend watching or rewatching this 2009 film over the weekend!
